Chapter 1194 Summary
Short Summary:
Zoro continues his battle against Sommers. While Zoro's fighting skill proves to be superior to that of Sommers, he struggled to control his Supreme King Haki to land the finishing blow. After recalling Mihawk's advice on how to master his Supreme King Haki, Zoro finally manages to control his Haki and counters Sommers' Immortality, much to the latter's horror.
Detailed Summary
Sommers' wound heals as he acknowledges how dangerously close Zoro was to stabbing his heart, but he realizes Zoro did not use Supreme King Haki on his swords, even though Sommers saw him use it earlier during their fight. Sommers figures Zoro cannot control his Supreme King Haki properly, and while he calls him a fool for it, he does quickly remind himself Zoro cut through his thorns earlier, though he tries to reason it was either due to his swords being very hot somehow, or he coated them in Supreme King Haki for just a minute. Regardless, Sommers knows he needs to be quick in killing Zoro or else. Just as he thinks that, Zoro stabs Sommers again from behind, once again merely touching his steel heart, and leaving Sommers in a lot of pain.
However, Zoro once again did not infuse his swords with Supreme King Haki as Sommers' wound heals, and as Zoro pulls his sword out of Sommers' body, he wonders if he is trying too hard to force the Haki, while Sommers creates his Iba Launchers. Sommers acknowledges that Zoro knows exactly how to beat him, but he is livid that Zoro has the audacity to practice honing his Supreme King Haki on a Knight of God like himself, and he fires thorns at Zoro while yelling to try again in another life. Unfortunately for Sommers, Zoro uses Hyokindama to not only deflect the thorns, but also to cut off Sommers' hand. However, Sommers' hand reattaches to him, much to Zoro's frustration.
To prepare for Zoro's next attack, Sommers covers Gram in thorns made of Omen, while Zoro thinks back to when Luffy uses Supreme King Haki, and how he previously thought it was only for captains and leaders, but Gaban's words to him about not knowing he had it himself has now changed his entire viewpoint. Sommers uses an attack called Ibaran Kiryu and fires a dragon creature made of Omen using Gram, but Zoro counters with Senhachiju Pound Ho, this time infused with Supreme King Haki. Sommers panics a bit but calms down reminding himself that Omen can counter said power, but Zoro's attack easily cuts through Sommers', and after which Zoro jumps into the air to cut through Sommers' Iba Launchers and also damage part of the giant ship, to Sommers' worry.
Zoro and Sommers soon start exchanging blows. Zoro continuously cuts up Sommers, who soon is exhausted and fed up with Zoro using him as a training dummy for his Haki. As Zoro jumps into the air to avoid a swing from Sommers, the latter gloats at Zoro to give up mastering Supreme King Haki because he does not have the qualities of a king, but Zoro cuts off Sommers' right hand with a black lightning strike. Sommers taunts him with it, saying that it will just regenerate again as he tries to reattach it. All through this, Zoro thinks back to his training with Mihawk, who told him about Supreme King Haki, and that one thing that all users of it have that never changes is a strong sense of self, which the weak cannot stand against.
Realizing this, Zoro puts his bandana on and successfully coats his swords in Supreme King Haki at will. Meanwhile, Sommers is overwhelmed with terror after his hand failed to attach, knowing all too well that Zoro now has what it takes to kill him.
