Chapter 1162 Summary
Short Summary:
While Silvers Rayleigh flees with Shakuyaku, all of the pirates continue fighting each other for the treasure at the center of God Valley. Rocks D. Xebec helps Eris and Teach escape the island while he stays to fight back against the Knights of God and his family members that were turned into demons. Once Charlotte Linlin gains possession of the Uo Uo no Mi, Model: Seiryu, Kaidou attacks her and steals the fruit for himself to eat. Shortly after Bartholomew Kuma helps the citizens and slaves leave God Valley, Imu emerges from Jaygarcia Saturn and confronts Rocks, Edward Newgate, and Kaidou.
Detailed Summary
To the northwest, Rocks and Garling are fighting, while Roger is trying to reach the area where all the treasure is. He tells Rayleigh to keep running away with Shakky. Several people see him with her and consider attacking Rayleigh to claim Shakky for themselves, but Shiki prevents this as he does not want Shakky to get hurt, instead ordering the men to focus solely on the treasure now. All the while Rayleigh tells Shakky there is something he wants to say to her, but she simply says she already knows.
At the primary treasury, Kuma and Ivankov took advantage of the chaos as planned to sneak in and eat Devil Fruits, only for Linlin to barge in and swipe the Uo Uo no Mi, Model: Seiryu from Ivankov's hands. She attempted to steal the Nikyu Nikyu no Mi as well, but Kuma quickly ate it, to her displeasure. Ivankov then told Kuma that he needs to use its power to save himself, for if they manage to get one person off the island, than he will consider it their victory. Elsewhere, Garp sees the bodies of the dead civilians and slaves and contacts Sengoku to know if he knew this was happening without their knowledge. Sengoku confesses there was one Marine who reported rumors, but that person eventually vanished, and that forces Garp to accept what he saw is reality.
As for Rocks, he managed to find Eris and Teach and started running away with them, but Garling, another knight, and several demons are chasing him, the latter of whom are members of the Davy Family, including Rocks' father and grandmother. Rocks wonders how they keep regenerating from every injury he inflicts and how his people, who were being hunted, suddenly became the enemy. Garling admits that Rocks is strong as his wounds are taking longer to recover from, but now they know he is a member of the Davy Family, so even though the Native Hunting Competition was ruined, they believe killing Rocks can salvage it. During the chase, Eris demanded Rocks set her down, citing he cannot fight back if he is too busy protecting her. Rocks refuses as he knows anyone affiliated with the Davy Family, even if they married into it, will suffer endless agony. However, Eris says she knew that already, but she has fully accepted herself as a member of the family, especially after how nice Rocks' relatives were to her despite her past as a pirate. Eris tells Rocks that he never would have fallen in love with her if all she did was cling on to him for protection, which is why she wants him to trust her to take care of both herself and of Teach. Ultimately Rocks lets her go, and she promises to take both her own life and Teach's if it looks like they will be caught, so they should both survive and meet up again in Lulusia. After Eris runs off with Teach, Rocks stands his ground to face Garling.
At the treasury, Linlin thinks about giving the Uo Uo no Mi, Model: Seiryu to Perospero, considering it a huge boost in power for her crew. Kaidou, however, attacks Linlin and eats it, causing Linlin to curse him. At the secondary treasure, meanwhile, the Roger Pirates reach the treasure while fighting the Rocks Pirates, while the Marines prioritize preventing the pirates from escaping. A few civilians reach the shore and plead with the Marines stationed to save them, but they merely shoot them, saying they are under no obligation to help a nation unaffiliated with the World Government. As Saturn watched the chaos unfold, Imu contacted him and asked if Rocks is dead, to which Saturn says he does not know, but what he does believe is that this level of destruction will birth something entirely new, which Imu says they can not allow. Kuma, meanwhile, began saving as many people as possible using his powers, which earned him their gratitude.
After Rocks has defeated Garling and slain his transformed family, he, along with Garp and Roger, suddenly feel something unsettling. Newgate meets up with Rocks, to which he says there is no reason for him to do so, but Newgate tells him not to sweat it. Kaidou, who had transformed into his full Seiryu-form, descends before the two to show off his new powers, which Rocks praises him for. Newgate changes topics to ask what that burst of power they just felt was, with said power being Imu having possessed Saturn's body. While most people are in disbelief over the new monster that suddenly appeared, Rocks answered with confidence that it was "The World" itself.
